Hi, I'm Jessica Leigh Alsup! I am the face (or, hands anyway!) behind Fleur de Leigh Designs. I was born and raised in Texas where I developed a great love for chips and salsa, always using "y'all" as a pronoun, perfect sunsets, and really good steak! I currently live in Plano with my new and wonderfully supportive husband Jon, and our fluffy fur babies: a Great Pyrenees/Golden Retriever mix named Jack and a seal-point Siamese cat named Scoots. Jon and I got married in September 2018 and so far we are absolutely LOVING the married life!
I began my journey in hand-lettering years ago when images of beautifully and creatively addressed envelopes began popping up all over Pinterest and Instagram. Like many of you, I just knew I HAD to have that for my own wedding someday! I got lucky because elegant penmanship runs in my family, so I had a great starting point. I practiced and doodled all kinds of letters and words until I finally got the hang of it all. Then, voila!
Since I was a little girl I have always loved art and anything creative. My first dream job was to write and illustrate my own books – maybe it will still happen someday! It wasn’t until I became a “real” adult (which I’m STILL trying to figure out how to do properly, by the way!) that I realized how much I truly valued creativity. It is in my core and vital to my happiness to be able to use my creativity; the thing that brings me the most fulfillment is to create for others. The feeling I get when seeing joy on someone’s face and the ability to touch their heart through my work is my driving force and the ultimate reason I began Fleur de Leigh Designs!
A lot of people ask me about the name Fleur de Leigh Designs and how it came about. Let’s back up to 2009 to my freshman year of college. I decided I wanted to do a semester abroad and booked a ticket to France! I spent the Spring semester living on the grounds of a 1,000 year old abbey in the chateau that was built as a military academy and soaked in all the French culture I possibly could. I loved it so much that I even decided to go back for a second semester abroad in 2011!
It was at the Abbaye de Pontlevoy that I found myself and who I truly am for the first time. My journey and time in France made a lasting impression on me and who I grew into as a person!
So when it came time to choose a name for my new venture into hand lettering, I just knew I had to incorporate my love for France somehow! I have a fleur de lis tattoo on my foot and wanted to use it as the symbol of my work. It was Jon who had the genius idea to use my middle name Leigh as a play on words and that’s how we landed on Fleur de Leigh Designs!
To put it all simply, I love to make beautiful, meaningful pieces for people and I cannot wait to create something special for you!

a few of my faves
Hands down it would have to be Fall. I go crazy over the beautiful trees when the leaves turn into bright shades of red, orange, and golden yellow! Plus, it gives me an excuse to break out my extensive scarf collection and I get to wear ALL of the plaid shirts. Autumn is my spirit season!
This is a tough decision, but overall I’d have to say PASTA! I’d do anything for some authentic carbonara, pad thai, or some classic gnocchi and pesto. All accompanied by a good glass of red wine, of course!
Favorite Vacay Spot
France will always be my favorite place (I lived there for two semesters in college!) but I fell head over heels in love with Italy while traveling. My bucket list is still a mile long! I also love the Pacific Northwest and go as often as possible.

Favorite Series to Binge
Downton Abbey because I love historical dramas, Sherlock because it is so witty and detailed, and Friends because it is my lobster of TV shows.
I read Pride and Prejudice in high school and it instantly became my favorite. I actually collect different editions of P&P, so if you ever see a good one feel free to let me know where I can pick it up!
